Great first time riding experience for my kids. The staff is friendly and nice. The horses are great for trail rides.

Had a great time! Trail guide was very friendly and helpful, and horses were super sweet! We went on a beautiful trail through the woods and down a seanic vermont dirt road. Afterwards we fed the horses treats, was really a great experience. If you are in the area and are looking for something to do.. This is it!!

It was great , i enjoyed it for my first time with my bf for our anniversary. The horses are abit older than the other but overall our trail rides are good. Theyre very friendly and will listen to you as you ride on them. Also great hosts we had, they dont give you lessons for beginners but the instructions are pretty small and simple. I would like to go back and experience it again

Very very nice, well -mannered horses. The people really take care of them well.. Fresh water, plentiful hay, nice trimmed feet. Equipment taken care of& the host knew what she was doing..I thoroughly enjoyed my ride. Perfect... In my humble opinion this establishment is owned& operated by horse -lovers.. Is definitely NOT an assembly-line type of trail-ride... My host, actually dismounted& led her horse past imaginary monsters that was spooking her horse.. Kudos to u Terri. I have witnessed so many others take a totally opposite& aggressive approach& try N bully the horse. Pleasantly surprised had a really nice time. Thank-you.

In short, the employees were unkind and unprofessional and provided an unsafe riding experience.

When my mom called Horses for Hire to schedule a one-hour long trail ride, the owner said to call her back quickly because the spots were filling up. However, when my mom and our friends showed up at Horses for Hire, nobody seemed to be there, and the horses weren't even prepared for the ride --- no tack (equipment) on or anything! They were still out in the field! The employees and owner did a quick job putting the saddle and bridle on --- didn't even brush the horses first, which could have resulted in discomfort for the horse and an unsafe ride. My friend and I told them that we're experienced riders, and so they gave us a choice of whether to ride in the English saddle or the western saddle and allowed the two of us to ride in uncomfortable, unsafe saddles. As we were mounting the horses, my friend was yelled at by the owner of the barn who stated that if she knew how to ride, she'd be sitting in the right position. As we were leaving for the ride, my friend discovered that her girth was loose, so the saddle could slide on the horse's back, which could've made my friend fall. The guide got off of her horse to check the girth, which secures the saddle on the horse's back, and discovered that it was very loose, but that it couldn't be tightened. Instead of going back and getting a different girth for the saddle, the guide told us to keep going. A few minutes later, she got off of her horse again and checked her own and the rest of our girths to discover that they were all very loose. The horses weren't responsive enough to be carrying inexperienced riders, and the owner said that they hadn't been ridden in six months! While we were on the trail, the guide took a bell out of her bag and hung it in the saddle, explaining to us that its purpose was to scare away any bears that might be lurking nearby! The horses spooked somewhat easily, and at one point, the guide made me get off of my horse and ride hers, and made her inconfident thirteen-year-old daughter lead us home. When we got back to the stable, the owner billed us for the two-hour ride when we had only asked for an hour-long ride, and we discovered that the owner had told the trail guide to take us out for two hours in order to trick us out of our money, thinking that she wouldn't be caught.
